RAIPUR: With rising incidents of children committing suicide by taking the blue whale challenge throughout the country, Chhattisgarh CID has issued guidelines as part of an awareness drive asking all SPs and nodal officers of internet service providers to ensure removing links of Blue Whale game and immediately register an FIR against proponent.Awareness drive would be conducted to educate children and teenagers in schools while police would also counsel students addicted to computer games.An initiative taken by CID, ADG RK Vij said that he has insisted and written letters to all the district SPs including the nodal officers of internet service providers to keep a watch on people promoting Blue Whale game and those serving it to youth and children."I also insist that parents and teachers take responsibility in this issue and monitor the behaviour and activities of their children. They should also keep a check on their ward while using computers and mobile phones," Vij said.He added that the blue whale game link would be removed from social websites as ordered by Centre while case would be immediately registered against those promoting it.Police officials explained that the Blue Whale challenge was a dangerous concept and the inventor himself is a psychiatric patient. The players are given risky challenges that provoke them to end their life through various tasks.Vij said that the game targets children of most tender age of 12-19 years. "Any change in their behaviour, interest in watching movies at odd hours etc should be monitored closely and immediately needs to be taken into consideration. In case of those found with addiction, police would extend counselling for them," Vij said.
