Google adds Chhattisgarhi dialect in its keyboard

RAIPUR: In the recently added Indian languages to its keyboard, Google has added Chhattisgarhi dialect among Haryanvi, Garhwali and Bhopuri.Chahttisgarh chief minister's son Abhishek Singh, member of Parliament from Rajnandgaon has posted the information on his Facebook page saying, "India's biggest internet search engine has added Chhattisgarhi dialect in its keyboard. "The post typed in Chhattisgarhi said, "it isa moment of pride while I type this sentence in local dialect which would give it recognition internationally. From February to July, Tiwari collected maximum words and sent to Google in form of sentences and he was then asked to test the keyboard. Most of it was rectified and submitted in August," Tiwari said.He added that the data in Hindi converted in Chhattisgarhi is called interface. "It took me few days to test the keyboard, the script of which is in Devnagri as Chhattisgarhi doesn't have a script of its own.

Now, our effort would strengthen to add Chhattisgarhi in eight schedule of constitution."Singh also uploaded the screenshot of "Chhattisgarhi" displayed on keyboard panel.TOI found that a Durg based advocate Sanjeev Tiwari has been working since February who had helped Google create the Chhattisgarhi dictionary for its keyboard.Sanjeev Tiwari who is an advocate at Durg court has been among first few Hindi bloggers who started documentation of Chhattisgarhi literature and write-ups through his website : http://www.gurturgoth.com.Tiwari claimed that he had been the only person documenting Chhattisgarhi data on internet since 2008 when Google contacted him via an outsourced company for data feed.Tiwari was asked to send Google 10,000 sentences with proper grammar and tenses. From February to July, Tiwari collected maximum words and sent to Google in form of sentences and he was then asked to test the keyboard."It took me few days to test the keyboard, the script of which is in Devnagri as Chhattisgarhi doesn't have a script of its own. I made several tests on its trial link if the words were typed correctly and also eliminated the offensive and slang words from dictionary. Most of it was rectified and submitted in August," Tiwari said.He added that the data in Hindi converted in Chhattisgarhi is called interface. Mohit Sahu the cyber expert has authenticated it saying that Google has been adding new Indian languages in its keyboard through community based data.He informed that it's called 'GBoard' which is a virtual keyboard app developed by Google for Android and iOS devices which is expanding its languages.
