Vizag woman charred in freak fire in Scorpio

Sources said that the central locking system of the SUV failed when it caught fire which led to Nagamani's death. S RAYAVARAM (VIZAG): In a freak fire mishap, a 52-year-old woman was burnt alive and her husband was rescued after a Scorpio vehicle in which the couple was travelling caught fire on NH-16 near Geddapalem close to the Adduroad junction in S Rayavaram mandal in the wee hours on Thursday.Only ashes of the woman's body were found in the seat of the vehicle. Ramana was admitted to Nakkapalli Hospital. The fire spread within minutes and she could not be saved. Her remains were shifted to a government hospital.

S RAYAVARAM (VIZAG): In a freak fire mishap, a 52-year-old woman was burnt alive and her husband was rescued after a Scorpio vehicle in which the couple was travelling caught fire on NH-16 near Geddapalem close to the Adduroad junction in S Rayavaram mandal in the wee hours on Thursday.Only ashes of the woman's body were found in the seat of the vehicle. Though the reasons for the fire were not confirmed, over-heating of the engine and air conditioning unit was suspected to be the cause.The deceased was identified as Polireddy Nagamani of Purushottamapuram village in Yalamanchili mandal of Vizag district.Her husband, P Ramana, is an electrical loco pilot of SCR in Vijayawada. The mishap took place between 2-2.30 am when the couple was returning to Vijayawada from their native village after attending a festival.Inspector of Nakkapalle police station Ch Rudrasekhar told the media that Ramana informed them that the vehicle caught fire all of a sudden.He slowed the vehicle down and took help from a lorry driver to get out. But his wife got trapped. The fire spread within minutes and she could not be saved. Sources said that the central locking system of the SUV failed when it caught fire which led to Nagamani's death. Police and her family members didn't express any doubts over the accident so far.Cops registered a case under section 174 of CrPC (death due to accident) and an investigation is on to ascertain the cause of fire. Her remains were shifted to a government hospital. Ramana was admitted to Nakkapalli Hospital.
