Mudragada's march for quota foiled, put under house arrest

While the house arrest will last for 24 hours, Mudragada has been under unofficial house arrest for the last two days.The former minister was stopped by police officers led by Anti-Naxal operations OSD Ravi Shanker Reddy when the former came out of his house at 9.13am with 20 of his supporters to embark on the Chalo Amaravati yatra. KIRLAMPUDI:(East Godavari): Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham 's plan to embark on a statewide padayatra from East Godavari district to the state capital Amaravati, to demand reservation for Kapus, was foiled with police confining him to house arrest at his residence here on Wednesday.Police served notices on him under Section 151 of the CrPC and explained to him the terms of the house arrest. "Allow me to go on my padayatra or arrest me and put me in jail," Mudragada told the police, when the cops explained to him in a 20-minute discussion that they had instructions to put him under house arrest for 24 hours and nothing else.As news of Mudragada's house arrest spread, several Kapu leaders fanned out in areas like Simhadripuram, Srikrishnapuram, P Gannavaram, Tuni, Kothapeta, Amalapuram and other parts of Konaseema area where they staged protests demanding reservation.Mudragada said he has been fighting against the government to fulfil the promises made during the elections and vowed to start agitation soon.
