Andhra Pradesh receives excess rainfall this season

"The parts of south Andhra Pradesh districts like Prakasam and Guntur received good amount of rainfall on Monday too. Visakhapatnam district alone received a rainfall of 636.1 mm against the normal of 590.9 mm while Srikakulam received 639.4 mm against its normal of 585.8 mm. Hanumanthunipadu village of Prakasam district received the state highest rainfall of 28.5 mm on Monday," said an official from the AP State Development Planning Society (APSDPS). Vizianagaram district received 602.9mm rainfall against the normal of 572.2mm. Vizianagaram district received 602.9mm rainfall against the normal of 572.2mm."Yes, the rainfall activity in the state is bountiful as it has surpassed the normal figure till Monday.It will be a good sign for various sectors that are dependent on good rains," said Dr K Naga Ratna, forecast director, India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad.The weather office attributed the favourable rainfall to various reasons like the timely formation of low pressure and depressions in the Bay of Bengal, troughs and upper air cyclonic circulations over the sea and plain area, and along the coast in last two months."In particular, the low pressure and depression that formed in Ju ne and July boosted rainfall activity over the state," said a senior weather official from the Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC) in Visakhapatnam.On the other hand, an IMD official said light to moderate rainfall associated with thunder showers are likely to occur at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next two days."The parts of south Andhra Pradesh districts like Prakasam and Guntur received good amount of rainfall on Monday too.
