Rajkot: The paramour of the woman who had hanged herself to death on Tuesday was arrested from his residence at Aman Apartment in Race Course Park area on Thursday.Police identified the accused as Murtuza Travadi (41). In her suicide note, the victim, identified as Divya Vitha (35), alleged that Murtuza had spurned her offer to marry her after being in a relationship with her for the past four years.“Murtuza, who works with HDFC Bank, had come in contact with Vitha, who was an advocate, as he wanted her legal assistance in some matter four years ago. Thereafter, both remained in contact with each other and their relationship developed into romance. However, having romanced her for four years, when Murtuza refused to marry her, it hurt Divya so much that she decided to end her life,” said Pradyuman Nagar police station sub-inspector M S Gosai.In his statement, Murtuza told the cops that he was not against the marriage, but had opposed Diya’s demand to live separately from his family after marriage. Hence, he had rejected the marriage proposal. Murtuza has been arrested for abetment to suicide on the complaint of Divya’s brother Rajesh Vitha (33), a resident of Rushi Vatika in Dharam Nagar area of Rajkot.Apart from Murtuza, police have also booked his sister and brother-in-law for the crime as they had allegedly insulted Divya as mentioned in her suicide note. Both of them are yet to be arrested.
