One more held for threatening businessmen

Earlier, on June 28, police officials of B-Division station of Rajkot had arrested Salim Kathrotia (19), a resident of Lathi Plot, Hamir Parmar (21) and Sahil Vaddaria (20), both residents of Bhagwatipara. On June 25, again the accused visited Jain’s godown in the afternoon and evening and threatened him b brandishing knives. Ibrahim hurled abuses at Jain and threatened to kill him if he did not vacate his godown.

RAJKOT: One of the five exto-rtionists who had threaten-ed a businessman and tried to usurp his factory in Lathi Plot area in Rajkot on June 24, was nabbed on Thursday.The Rajkot detection of crime branch (DCB) identified the accused as Ibrahim Kathrotia alias Iblo (34), a resident of Khatkiwad on Morbi Road in Rajkot. Earlier, on June 28, police officials of B-Division station of Rajkot had arrested Salim Kathrotia (19), a resident of Lathi Plot, Hamir Parmar (21) and Sahil Vaddaria (20), both residents of Bhagwatipara. One of the accused, Mehboob Kathrotia, is still at large. Ibrahim, Salim and Mehboob are siblings.“Of the accused, Ibrahim is a history-sheeter against whom 42 cases ranging from extortion, physical assault to firing have been registered. He has been jailed under the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act (PASA). He had jumped parole on June 3 from Bhuj Central Jail where he was serving a term in a murder case,” said DCB inspector H M Gadhvi.On June 24, Salim, Hamir, Sahil and Mehboob had barged into the godown of Kaushal Jain (39) in Lathi Plot and made him talk to Ibrahim over phone. Ibrahim hurled abuses at Jain and threatened to kill him if he did not vacate his godown. On June 25, again the accused visited Jain’s godown in the afternoon and evening and threatened him b brandishing knives. Following this, Jain approached the police with a complaint.After the accused were arrested on the evening of June 28, another businessman, identified as Shankarlal Bhanushali (62), a resident of Sitaram Park on Morbi Road in Rajkot, approached the police with a similar complaint.
