Fake time bomb found in Metoda GIDC factory

Rajkot: Panic gripped workers of a factory in Metoda GIDC on Rajkot-Kalawad Road on the outskirts of Rajkot, when a time bomb was found from the factory premises on Sunday. The bomb disposal squad personnel took the bomb to an open ground. Though it turned out to be a fake bomb, we had to block the street leading to the factory,” said SP Antrip Sood.Sood added, “It appears to be the handiwork of some prankster who wanted to scare the factory owner and workers. Following this, officials of Lodhika police station, special operation group (SOG), bomb disposal squad and Rajkot superintendent of police (SP) Antrip Sood rushed to the factory.“Natha had picked up the bomb and taken it out of the factory. Possibility of any factory worker being involved in the crime is not being ruled out.” There are about 250 workers in the factory hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.

However, after examination According to police, Natha Varadia (42), a driver at Satyay Technocast Factory in Metoda GIDC, went to take the heater from the factory’s meeting room, where in the attic he spotted the time bomb with a clock strapped around it with cellotape.A scared Natha called up factory owner, Nilesh Mangrolia, a resident of University Road in Rajkot, who rushed to the premises and called up Lodhika police station. Following this, officials of Lodhika police station, special operation group (SOG), bomb disposal squad and Rajkot superintendent of police (SP) Antrip Sood rushed to the factory.“Natha had picked up the bomb and taken it out of the factory. The bomb disposal squad personnel took the bomb to an open ground. However, upon inspection, it was found that instead of gelatin sticks, the bomb had wooden sticks wrapped around it, and the circuit was missing with only wires and clock strapped around it. Though it turned out to be a fake bomb, we had to block the street leading to the factory,” said SP Antrip Sood.Sood added, “It appears to be the handiwork of some prankster who wanted to scare the factory owner and workers. Possibility of any factory worker being involved in the crime is not being ruled out.” There are about 250 workers in the factory hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. “Further probe into the case has been handed over to the SOG,” said Sood.
