Rajkot: Three people, including two women, were attacked by leopards in two incidents, in Gir Somnath and Amreli districts, on Wednesday. The forest department set up cages to catch the leopards.According to forest department officials, Manisha Makwana (22) and Geeta Makwana were attacked on Wednesday morning at Bhadiyadar village of Una taluka in Gir Somnath district when they were in a cattle shed. Assistant conservator of forests Nikunj Parmar said, “The two of them were attacked when they were inside a shed. Because of rain, the cat may have not been able to catch prey outside the sanctuary area. We believe the leopard may have come to prey on cattle, but got scared on seeing humans and attacked them in self-defence.” Both women were taken to hospital and their condition is said to be stable. One of them suffered an injury below the waist and the other has a head injury. The forest department has set a cage to capture the leopard.Chandu Khetani (45) was attacked at Shilana village of Bagasara taluka in Amreli district. According to the forest department, the leopard was hiding in a small room on the farm, which is generally used to store agricultural implements. When Chandu opened the door, the cat attacked him. He was first taken to Bagasara and but was later shifted to Amreli Civil Hospital.
