Rain in Rajkot: Villagers are waiting for help

RAJKOT: The rain has slowed down in Amreli, Gir Somnath and Junagadh district of Saurashtra but still people in some remote villages are waiting for the help of administration. The villagers complain that no government machinery reached to the village.Pravin Sankhat a villager said “We didn’t receive any government help till the time though the villagers informed Mamlatdar office that we are facing tough time, the road leads to Una and Jafrabad are blocked since last seven days. The water is not receding in many villages and roads are not opened.Vadli village of Jafrabad taluka in Amreli district is one of the worst affected villages during the rain, two bridges connecting to this village collapsed and nearly eight houses of the village collapsed during the heavy water flow. We don’t have food and nothing come from outside village as our village is virtually turned into island.”Manu Vaja another villager said “The life is thrown out of gear because of heavy rain and flood like situation, we hope that we will get help soon and the blocked roads will be opened so the grain and medicines and other lifesaving items can be brought to village.” Average 400 to 500 MM rainfall is reported in all three districts, Gir Somnath district is worst affected and Jafrabad taluka is on the boarder of Gir Somnath district.
