Audio clip of key accused asking for case to be diluted goes viral

Rajkot: Rajkot rural police on Monday has started investigation after a purported audio clip of groundnut scam mastermind and Gujcot warehouse manager, Magan Zalavadia , went viral on social media. In the audio clip Zalavadia is heard talking to one Mansinh who is believed to be a BJP worker from Junagadh.Zalavadia allegedly heard saying that (Rajkot) collector Rahul Gupta was pressurizing him to lodge FIR in the groundnut scam case. The adulterated stock was discovered in a warehouse in Pedhla village of Jetpur taluka in Rajkot. Meanwhile, police raided Zalavaida’s house in Targhadi village of Jamnagar to search for incriminating documents in connection with the scam.Rajkot rural superintendent of police Balram Meena said, “We have got the audio clip and we are investigating the origin of it. “I am avoiding it.

Just ask government to dilute the matter and we will handle everything,” Zalavadia is heard saying in Gujarati.The Gujcot manager is further heard asking Mansinh to “ask minister Jayesh Radadiya to intervene and convince agriculture minister RC Faldu that there is no need to lodge FIR as we are ready to bear the loss of contaminated groundnut stock”. Meanwhile, police raided Zalavaida’s house in Targhadi village of Jamnagar to search for incriminating documents in connection with the scam.Rajkot rural superintendent of police Balram Meena said, “We have got the audio clip and we are investigating the origin of it. The clip will be sent to forensic laboratory for voice spectrography test.”A total of 22 people were arrested last week in connection with the groundnut procurement scam where large quantity of mud and stones were found in the stock procured at minimum support price by a cooperative society. The adulterated stock was discovered in a warehouse in Pedhla village of Jetpur taluka in Rajkot.
