IMFL, beer worth Rs 19L seized; two arrested

Two persons have been arrested for the crime.In Dhasa, a total of 14,623 IMFL bottles, worth Rs 17.33 lakh, were seized from a truck on Dhasa bypass road. The liquor was found in the godown of Bhavna Roadways Transport company, whose authorities pleaded ignorance about the liquor supply stored there. Rajkot: A total of 15 ,049 bottles of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) and 570 beer cans, all worth Rs 18.73 lakh , were seized in three different raids conducted in Dhasa of Gadhada taluka in Botad district, Surendranagar and Gondal on Thursday night. The liquor had been secreted in the barrels of chemicals,” Rajkot rapid response cell sub-inspector M P Vala said.In Gondal, a total of 154 IMFL bottles worth Rs 62,400 were seized from a car on the highway in Bhagwatpara area. “The driver, identified as Ahmed Kataria, abandoned the car and fled from the spot after spotting the police,” Vala added.

The truck driver, identified as Mohabbatsinh Rathod (44), a resident of Jashwantghad village of Amreli taluka, was arrested from the spot.In Surendranagar, a total of 272 IMFL bottles and 570 beer cans worth Rs 1.78 lakh were seized from the godown of a transport company.“We have booked three companies, namely Vapi-based Jyoti Pappu Cotton Works, which had sent the liquor supply, and Surendranagar-based N K Enterprise and Jamnagar-based Jayesh Plastic Industries that had received the liquor supply. The liquor was found in the godown of Bhavna Roadways Transport company, whose authorities pleaded ignorance about the liquor supply stored there. The liquor had been secreted in the barrels of chemicals,” Rajkot rapid response cell sub-inspector M P Vala said.In Gondal, a total of 154 IMFL bottles worth Rs 62,400 were seized from a car on the highway in Bhagwatpara area. “The driver, identified as Ahmed Kataria, abandoned the car and fled from the spot after spotting the police,” Vala added.
