Liquor worth Rs 3.27 lakh seized; three arrested

We seized a total of 1,128 IMFL bottles and 576 beer cans worth Rs 2.87 lakh. RAJKOT: Intensifying their drive against bootlegging , Rajkot police seized liquor consignments containing Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) bottles and beer cans worth Rs 3.27 lakh from the Old Market Yard area and Kuvadava Road on Friday night. We arrested bootlegger Dilip Chandarna (50) for the crime. Three bootleggers were arrested in these connections.In Old Market Yard area, the officials of Rajkot B-Division police station had received a tip-off about a liquor cache being secreted in a pick-up van.“Acting on this information, we raided the shop where the van had been parked and found that IMFL bottles and beer cans were stuffed amid sacks full of onions. The van driver, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, and Chandarna’s son Pratik fled from the spot,” said B-Division police station sub-inspector M F Damor.Meanwhile, Kuvadava Road police station officials intercepted a truck on Kuvadava Road and seized 120 IMFL bottles and 48 beer cans worth Rs 40,000.“Salim Vanotar (33), a resident of Nava Thorala area in Rajkot, who had brought the liquor supply in the truck, and Mohit Sinroja (23), a resident of Shraddha Park, who had come to take the delivery of the supply, were arrested from the spot,” said Kuvadava Road police station constable Siraj Chania.
