Asha Thakor elected chairman of Dudhsagar Dairy

While Thakor bagged 12 votes in her favour against her rival candidate Ashok Chaudhary who bagged eight votes, Monghjibhai bagged 13 votes while his rival candidate bagged seven votes in his kitty.Returning officer Bhargav Patel declared Thakor and Monghjibhai elected to the posts. Interestingly, a representative of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation — the apex marketing body of all the district dairy unions of Gujarat — didn’t remain present to exercise his voting right. Palanpur: Asha Thakor has been elected as chairman while Monghji Chaudhary the vice-chairman of Mehsana’s Dudhsagar Dairy.The elections for the two top posts at the Mehsana District Milk Producers' Co-operative Union Limited (MDCMPUL), popularly known as Dudhsagar Dairy, were held on Tuesday after a gap of two-and-a-half years.Thakor was so far serving as vice-chairman of the milk union while Chaudhary was a director on the board of the district dairy union. Thakor was serving as acting chairman of the dairy after Vipul Chaudhary, who was elected to the post on January 2, 2016, was disqualified on February 26, 2016.Tuesday’s elections were held for the second term for the top posts. The countdown to the polls had witnessed quite a drama including a legal battle.
