Rajkot: A court in Amreli has directed Bhavnagar range inspector general (IG) to submit an action taken report after a police sub-inspector lodged a court complaint alleging that the district superintendent of police Nirlipt Rai and other cops had thrashed him in custody.Amreli PSI N J Gosai, who had circulated his own video making accusations against Rai last month, lodged a private complaint with Amreli chief court. His advocate AR Rohiya said, “Chief court judge MS Pandey has directed Bhavnagar range IG to submit a report by October 8.Besides Rai, Gosai has named 11 others including a deputy SP, circle police inspector, a police inspector and other cops from special operations group and local crime branch.”Rai and others have been accused of criminal conspiracy. assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharging his duty, illegal confinement and others.Gosai had alleged that Rai assaulted him the LCB office on August 18 night after a court had granted bail to history-sheeter Raju Dhakhda. Gosai had arrested Dhakhda and produced him in the court.Gosai had made the video clip from his bed in Amreli Civil Hospital in which he alleged that Rai was furious at Dhakhda’s release. He alleged that Rai pushed him on a bench and started thrashing him. However, Gosai had mysteriously disappeared from the hospital in the night and proceeded on sick live.Rai had, however, dismissed the allegation and said that he had only summoned Gosai to seek his explanation as to why he had prepared such a weak case in the court that paved way for Dhakhda’s release.
