We are hopeful of finalizing and submitting state’s GCZMP plan by October 31, 2018 to MoEF. MoEF was directed to finalize the ‘hazard line’ and CZMPs of states by July 31.Mahesh Pandya, an environment activist said, “The Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) law was enacted in 1991. Since then, on one pretext or the other, it is not being implemented in the true spirit. As the NGT has decided not to permit any development until we finalize CZMP, the fresh project proposals received will be forwarded for clearance only later.’’ The small and big projects combined entail an investment of nearly Rs 50,000 crore,” said a top official close to the development.NGT had even put the MoEF on the notice saying that it would not accept the latter’s contention on “non-cooperation” by the states in submitting CZMPs.
