The videos will also have versions of doctors who would detail the nature of injury and how it could have been avoided by wearing a helmet.A report of IIT-Delhi, DIMTS and TERI, as a part of an audit conducted for the Supreme Court committee on road safety, showed Rajkot fares worse in India as only three out of 100 two-wheeler riders here wear helmets.SM Khatri, joint police commissioner, told TOI: “Everyday 15 to 20 two-wheeler riders suffer head injuries due to accidents in the city. We have decided to take videos of their sufferings along with the views of civil hospital doctors on how helmet could have saved these people. Versions of the relatives of these patients will also be recorded.”The same videos will also be played at various public functions.The traffic police has also decided get stricter in enforcement. “We have issued 5,0000 challans in the last five months to the helmet rule violators alone. We are issuing 700 e-challans per day for traffic violations, which will be increased to 1,000 per day. We have also directed the field staff to issue more challans manually to the violators, especially to those not wearing helmets,” Khatri said.Police also advising pillion riders to wear helmets who are equally vulnerable to injuries in accidents.
