Rajkot: On Tuesday morning, the fire brigade team was removing bodies of her three sons and one daughter from a 90-feet-deep well one after another. But their mother Geeta Bhaliya remained completely moved.Villagers were shell-shocked, but 40-year-old Geeta was her usual self. About 15 hours back on Monday evening, she had thrown her five children into the well and jumped inside herself to commit suicide.The brutal incident happened in Panch Pipaliya village of Bhavnagar’s Talaja taluka. Villagers managed to bring out Geeta and her 10-year-old daughter Dharmishta alive, but four other children drowned. They were identified as Kuldeep (7), Kartik (4), Rudra (one-and-a-half-years) and eight-year-old daughter Akshita.Preliminary investigation revealed that Geeta had lost her mental balance and often complained to her husband Dharamsinh of having repeated nightmares. “Geeta told him that she often saw crematoriums and flames in her dreams. She was obsessed by the feeling of being seized with some spirit and that someone had cast some spell on her with black magic,” said Alang police sources.On Monday, Geeta told him that she would visit Mataji’s temple in coastal village of Jhanjhmer which could relieve her of the daily nightmares. However, she took her five children along and went to Panch Pipaliya village where they lived two years ago. “However, she went to the farm and threw the children one by one and then jumped herself,” said police.Meanwhile, a villager saw her and immediately informed others who rushed to the well and managed to bring out Geeta and Dharmishta.Dharamsinh had shifted to Roel village from Panch Pipaliya a year ago and started tilling a land in partnership with one Naresh Gangani.Chandubhai, a resident of Panch Pipaliya who knew the family, immediately informed Dharamsinh about the incident.Alang police have arrested Geeta and booked her for murder and attempt to murder.“Whole night, she kept sitting near the well and was totally unrepentant for her act. She even kept talking to the villagers as if nothing had happened,” said CH Makwana, police sub-inspector, Alang police station.The couple was married for 14 years.
