14km road in Gir closed to give mating lions privacy

All vehicles passing on the stretch during the day time are tracked from their entry into the protected forest till their exit.On Friday evening, the forest department received a call that lions were mating on the roadside and the male lion had become violent. The caller said that the male lion also chased a villager who was passing through the road on his motorcycle. The man fell down and got hurt. The male lion also chased another car that passed from near them.Forest officers were deputed on Friday night and on Saturday morning to ensure that the mating lions are not disturbed by humans. After the lions went inside the dense forest, the road was opened for vehicles.VIDEO OF MEN CHASING LION SURFACESRajkot: Another video of harassment to lions in wild went viral on social media. Two men on bike are seen chasing a lion in a video that surfaced on Saturday. The video appears to have been shot by the bike riders themselves on mobile phone. According to sources the video was shot in Rajpara village of Una taluka in Gir Somnath district.
