A person using this app has to select the district and click on the name of nearest volunteer who will get the call about the injured birds.”The contact details of hospitals are also available in this app.Mittal Khetani, founder of Karuna Foundation said, “There is not much connect between the volunteers and people who want to save the birds. This app will work as a bridge between them.” This app is available for free on all platforms and requires no log in..Sudhanshu Shekhar, the technical brain behind the app, said “Very soon, we will develop location-based data so that user can directly send live location to the volunteer where he or she sees an injured bird or animal.”The app covers maximum volunteers in urban areas like Valsad, Surat, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar from where most complains of bird injuries come every year during Uttarayan.“In future, this application will also have details of government authorities like collector office, superintendent of police office and other agencies to ensure that no volunteer breaks laws or harasses anybody in the name of animal welfare,” Khetani added. You can simply upload the location on this app and volunteers will come to its rescue.A wildlife activist who runs an information technology firm in Valsad and Rajkot Karuna Foundation, an non-government organization, have jointly launched a mobile application which can help save lives of hundreds of birds, especially those injured by kite strings during Uttarayan.This app will help people connect with volunteers and doctors in any corner of the state.The ‘Jeev Daya app’ launched by Valsad resident Mayank Gandhi has a list of 300 NGOs and their volunteers who will be on their toes on Uttarayan and following days to attend calls regarding injured bird.Gandhi, who runs a tech firm said, “We wanted to launch this app before Uttarayan.
