40 foreign delegates denied visa to fest

Rajkot: As many as 40 foreign delegates could not take part in international trade festival organized here by the Saurashtra Vepar Udhyog Mahamandal (SVUM) as they were denied visa by the Indian embassy in their respective countries for various reasons.Total 50 delegates are currently participating in this trade festival that began on February 11.President of SVUM Parag Tejuara said, “The 40 delegates from countries like Sudan, Zambia, Cambodia, Afghanistan and Bangladesh were denied visa. CII stated that the delegates in question were not called for interviews after visa application.The letter also detailed past instances and said, “Each time our contacts face difficulties in getting visa, we have to intervene. They had already paid the fees for visa.”In the case of four persons, international division of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has also shot a letter before a week to Indian high commission in Nigeria in this regard. This not the first time. Last year also despite submitting all documents, political clearance from ministry of home affairs, government of India, for the 13th CII Exim Bank Conclave were not issued.”Tejura added, “The delegates are businessmen and industrialist and coming to take part in our event which ultimately will boost Indian industry and country’s exports.”
