Parts of North Gujarat to go thirsty for next two days

Supply of water will be restored as soon as the repair work was over, said Nirav Solanki, chief engineer of water supply and sewage board, Ahmedabad zone. “We took up the repair work now so as to avoid water hardship to these people during midsummer,” he explained.Almost every alternate year, supply of water from the nearly two decades old Dharoi dam gets suspended as a routine issue and no action has been initiated so far.Explaining the reason behind frequent trippings, superindent engineer of Mehsana division, Sulbhaben Sambhvani said that water supply to North Gujarat from the Dharoi dam began in 2001, which is now about 18 years old. “Moreover, its initial capacity was 70 litre per capita when it was first made functional, while the supply capacity has now increased to 100 litre per capita!
