Five robbed of Rs 1.44L in two blackmailing cases

On March 19, Najma called Paladia and told him that she had found a suitable woman for marriage with him and called him from Morbi to Rajkot.Paladia and Rajput drove to Rajkot in their car. After this, Paladia drove the car to the Aji river bank in Bhagwatipara locality as directed by Dharti.“While Paladia parked his car and started the conversation, two scooter-borne unidentified men arrived and dragged out both Paladia and Rajput and thrashed them. As they didn’t have enough money, the accused robbed them of Rs 8,000 cash, two cellphones and one gold chain, before fleeing from the spot,” said an official from B division police station.Paladia told the cops that as he was scared, he got delayed in lodging the complaint.In Vanthali, Kapil Kubawat (35), Kishor Gedia (30) and Jairaj Gohil (33), all residents of Una, were robbed of Rs 48,000 cash by six accused including a woman identified as Gopi.

Rajkot: Two cases of blackmailing , in which five persons were robbed of Rs 1.44 lakh cash and valuables including cellphones and jewellery, were registered in Rajkot city and Vanthali of Junagadh district on Thursday night.In Bhagwatipara locality on Morbi Road of Rajkot, complainant Kaushik Paladia (27), a resident of Mahendranagar locality in Morbi, alleged that he and his friend Viral Rajput were robbed of cash, cellphone and a gold chain, all worth Rs 96,000, by four accused who included two women.Paladia told the cops that a woman who identified herself as Najma had developed friendship with him after she called him by mistake over phone, six months ago.Police said that Paladia, a widower, wanted to remarry, for which he had sought Najma’s help to find him a soul-mate.
