Two-day weekend shutdown in north Gujarat

With the rise in Corona cases, municipalities and panchayats of Palanpur, Deesa, Modasa, Bayad, Babar and Mehsana have decided to observe two-day total bandh on Saturday and Sunday while observing shutdown daily from 6pm to 6am from April 12 to 30.

Announcing ban on public entry into Mehsana panchayat offices, in charge of Mehsana DDO, Pradipsinh Rathod on Friday said that for any urgent work one can contact via the office landline number -02762-222331.

Earlier in the day, the Mehsana nagarpallika and district administration held a detailed meeting with office-bearers of the traders association and decided to strictly enforce the 2-day bandh. This was accepted by the traders association voluntarily. However essential services like milk and medicines are exempted and these stores will remain open. This was announced by Mehsana Nagarpallika chief officer Alpesh N Patel and Varshaben M Patel in a release.

However, Modasa will observe a shutdown from 6 pm to 6 am beginning Saturday. Modasa Nagarpallika president Jalpa Bhavsar after meeting with all stakeholders said all trades except milk and medicines will be shut down completely in the evening from April 10 to 17.
