Water supply network to be set up for Vavdi

RAJKOT: Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) is planning to set up drinking water supply network in Vavdi area that was recently merged into the corporation limit.RMC will implement Rs 39 crore project to lay water supply network in Vavdi to solve their drinking water supply issues.According to RMC officials, Vavdi was merged into ward number 12 two years ago. The water supply network covering entire area is also planned. "We will lay 1.40 km water supply line from Ribda filter plant to Vavdi. We have sought 25,000 sq m land from government in Kangshiyali village to build overhead water tank,'' said Banchhanidhi Pani, municipal commissioner, Rajkot.At present, residents of Rasulpara, Bajarangnagar, Ravechinagar localities of Vavdi village are getting water once in a three days through 55 standposts which were laid by the then gram panchayat, Lodhika Group water supply scheme. RMC has also decided to supply water through tankers in areas that don't have supply networkRMC has approved Rs 32.43 lakh project to lay pipeline to take water from Shaktinagar pumping station to Rasulpara area of Vavdi.Vavdi village and Kothariya village were merged into Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) two years ago.

However, villagers have often complained that they do not get adequate drinking water."We will lay 1.40 km water supply line from Ribda filter plant to Vavdi. The water supply network covering entire area is also planned. The tender will be floated for this work soon. However, locals complain that the water pressure is very low. RMC has also decided to supply water through tankers in areas that don't have supply networkRMC has approved Rs 32.43 lakh project to lay pipeline to take water from Shaktinagar pumping station to Rasulpara area of Vavdi.Vavdi village and Kothariya village were merged into Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) two years ago. Earlier, they were governed by Rajkot Urban Development Authority (RUDA).
