It’s raining worries ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi visit

A number of tricycles were seen floating in the water. That apart, LED lights at Aji Dam meeting venue have been damaged by the rain. Also, decorations along the roadshow have been damaged," said sources in the Rajkot Municipal Corporation.More rainfall is expected in the coming days. Meanwhile, the wet spell provided a much needed relief to the people of Rajkot on Sunday afternoon who had hitherto been reeling under severe heat conditions. Swarthy clouds overcast the sky and rain poured in with torrential thunderstorm. It left many streets in the city waterlogged. The road from Kisanpara to Kalawad Road had a one-feet deep water which caused traffic snarls.Rainfall was also recorded in Morbi, Jetpur and Bhayawadar on Sunday. On Saturday evening, Jasdan and Atkot received rain.Several parts of Amreli and Gir-Somnath districts also reeled under a wet spell.Heavy rains also pounded south Gujarat region with Valsad getting the maximum. At least 15 villages of Umargam taluka in the district bore the brunt of heavy rains that began on Saturday evening, forcing the administration to rescue 31 people trapped there. District administration officials said villages around Bhilad were inundated due to heavy inflow of water into Balitha Khadi. First 14 people were rescued from Dhoripada and Balgam in Umargam taluka and subsequently another 17 from the same area.In Navsari district, two young boys from Talod village were swept away in strong currents of Ambika river near Gandevi-Billimora, some 60 km from Surat. Their bodies were not recovered till late night. The boys were identified as Nayan Patel, 16 and his cousin Dharmesh Patel , 20. They had gone to Devdha dam with other three boys of the village for a swim in the river.
