34 arrested for illegal coal mining

"We had received a tip-off about the illegal mining of coal in Khakharadi village, following which we raided the place. Rajkot: The rapid response cell (RR cell) of Surendranagar police arrested 34 people for extracting coal illegally in Khakharadi village of Thangadh taluka in Surendranagar district on Saturday. The RR cell lodged a case against them with Thangadh police station. We arrested 34 accused from the spot and seized two dumpers, tractor loaders and nine cranes, all of which have a total worth of around Rs 88.42 lakh," said an official from RR cell.However 16 others, who too were involved in the crime, fled before the raid.
