Ex-MLA’s permit used by bootlegger to buy beer

Further action will be taken based on the statement of the wine shop owner, the police said. Rajkot: The name of former Rajkot (rural) MLA Mahdu Babariya cropped up during investigation of a prohibition case against a man who was held with 24 bottles of beer on Sunday night.According to the police, they had arrested resident of Gokulpara Ashok Mohan Chavda with two dozen bottles of beer on Sunday night during patrolling.On questioning, Chavda revealed that he was using the permit of Babariya to purchase liquor and beer from a licensed wine shop and used to sell it in open market.Police have started questioning the wine shop owner from where Chavda bought the beer.
