RANCHI: The onset of monsoon has aggravated the problem of traffic congestion and the status of road infrastructure in the state capital. While waterlogging in roads has emerged as a major problem, over flowing drains of the capital are not a pleasant sight either.Siddharth Kumar Sahu, an alumnus of St Xavier's College, Ranchi, told TOI: "The lanes near my home in Chutia are overflowing after every spell of shower. The roads are filled with drain water and we have to wade through knee-deep water."While the road from Doranda to Manitola is in shambles several huge craters have surface on the Main Road. "This is my first monsoon in Ranchi. The situation of the roads is scary. Small vehicles get into water," said Ankit Kumar, an MBA student who has recently shifted to the city from Dhanbad.Deputy mayor Sanjeev Vijayvargiya informed TOI that rescue teams have been formed to address the problem of waterlogging in Ranchi. "We have a team of engineers and repairers for immediate redressal of the problem of waterlogging. We are acting on the complaints filed with the Ranchi Municipal Corporation."
