CM reviews hygiene, security ahead of Shravani Mela

RANCHI: Chief minister Raghubar Das on Thursday directed the officials of Baidynath Dham Vasukinath Dham Pilgrimage Area Development Authority to focus on cleanliness and hygiene of temple town Deoghar during the month-long Shravani Mela, which begins on Saturday.Das took stock of preparations ahead of the festival which draws lakhs of devotees from Jharkhand, Bihar Odisha and the north-east every year.

State ministers Amar Kumar Bauri and Lois Marandi, chief secretary Sudhir Kumar Tripathi, DGP D K Pandey and others were present at the meeting held at the Project Building."The Shravani Mela at Deoghar and Vasukinath should be at par with global standards. He instructed officials to install CCTV cameras to track the movement of the visitors and deploy more than 500 volunteers to maintain cleanliness.Das proposed setting up of an integrated monitoring system through which he can monitor management of the festival from his office in Ranchi. "Cleanliness and route management must be strictly monitored. The officers must be alert. Police and other security personnel would work in three shifts to maintain law and order," Das said.Realising that his grand plan of making the fair a world-class affair needs better infrastructure, Das instructed officials to prepare a blueprint for development which will fulfil the infrastructural needs of the towns for the next 50 years.Das met the chairman of state minorities commission and members of the state Haj committee and encouraged them to provide all support to the pilgrims headed for Mecca and Medina from Jharkhand this year.
