RANCHI: Jharkhand high court on Friday extended the provisional bail of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav till August 20. Lalu, who is out on provisional bail on medical grounds, had sought an extension of the bail period by three months for further treatment. Lalu's lawyer Prabhat Kumar said the RJD supremo was granted six-week provisional bail May 11 and it has been extended since then. Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, who extended the provisional bail, fixed August 17 for final hearing on Lalu's plea for three-month extension of his bail.Kumar said a medical report on Lalu's health has been submitted to the court, including the discharge report from Asian Heart Institute where the RJD leader has recently undergone an operation for fistula. Lalu is currently admitted to the Asia Heart Institute as the doctors had asked him to report after four weeks from the date of surgery.LAlu is getting 70-80 units of insulin per day for treatment of diabetes but his blood sugar is still high around 350. The high sugar level is delaying his post-surgery recovery, Kumar said. He added that Lalu was suffering from several other ailments, including chronic kidney disease, glaucoma , hypertension and heart problem, for which he needs treatment. CBI lawyer Neeraj Kumar said, "The court has directed us to seek instructions on the medical report of Lalu."
