Adult Jharkhand wakes up to hooliganism of teachers and high-handedness of administration

Handful hooligans among the para teachers left no stones unturned to spoil the foundation day celebration and a red-faced administration went all guns blazing to prove to their masters that they were alert. The celebration took a turn for the unprecedented when thousands of para teachers swarmed right outside the venue and took to stone pelting. The agitation took the ugliest turn with several female para teachers caught in the line of action, as the administration started singling out the para teachers seated in the audience and forcing them out of the venue.

th year of separation from RANCHI: As Jharkhand entered into adulthood completing 18year of separation from Bihar on Thursday, people in thousands came under the baton of police at the main government programme venue at Morhabadi ground. Journalists, women, children no one was spared by the gun tottering security men. People ran for their lives, got hurt with the barbed wire fencing and those who were unable to resistance fell easy prey to the RAF, policemen and Quick Response Team. Deputy commissioner Rai Mahimapat Ray and SSP Anish Gupta took charge holding batons in hand but clueless how to control the 20,000 plus odd mob that was all prepared to show black flags to the chief minister. The para teachers demanding regularization had announced their plan to protest and in a bid to avoid embarrassment government has issued order to keep schools open so that no one can protest at the programme venue. The celebration took a turn for the unprecedented when thousands of para teachers swarmed right outside the venue and took to stone pelting. The protest took an ugly turn with TK Jha, DSP Control Room ordering a lathi charge on the crowd of thousands of para teachers pelting stones on the police and were dug out from the perimeter of the venue by 12.30 pm. Many were injured in the first series of Lathi Charge by the police administration. Sundar Kumar Lal, a protesting para teacher suffered massive injury on the head. Talking to TOI, he said: “We are here to protest the government which came into power making false promises. And this is the treatment we get.” The second round of lathi charge followed in the next ten minutes, as another approaching group of para-teachers were forced to run for their lives towards the Birsa Munda Football Stadium . The agitation took the ugliest turn with several female para teachers caught in the line of action, as the administration started singling out the para teachers seated in the audience and forcing them out of the venue. The second round of stone pelting began after CM Raghubar Das finished his speech and the para teachers seated in the gallery started shouting anti-CM slogans and breaking jawan and suffered injuries. The para teachers have earlier announced the 19 th Foundation day as ‘Kala Diwas ’ due to the state government’s failure to regularize their jobs. The state education and literacy department had earlier issued a chairs. A group of around two thousand para teachers near Gate 1 of Birsa Munda Football Stadium started pelting stones into the venue, forcing the administration to fire tear gas bullets to disperse the crowd. The photographer of this newspaper was also charged by a RAFnotification warning para-teachers of strict action in case they take part in the protests in Ranchi on Thursday. More than 1000 preventive arrests were made across the city since Thursday morning.
