Congress, JMM fail to reach consensus on Kolebira seat

RANCHI: The bonhomie between Congress and JMM, the vital cogs in the proposed mahagatbandhan in Jharkhand , showed signs of a crack on Sunday evening after the two failed to reach a consensus on fielding a candidate for the Kolebira assembly bypoll, even as BJP named its pick for the election scheduled on December 20.JMM, which shocked Congress by supporting Jharkhand Party candidate Menon Ekka on November 29, refused to give in to the persuasions to change its stand and throw its weight behind the latter's choice even after an intense meeting which went on till late in the evening at JMM executive president Hemant Soren 's Kanke Road residence.After Jharkhand Congress president Ajoy Kumar, party veteran Pradeep Balmuchu and its state in-charge RPN Singh drove out of his home, Soren told the media waiting outside that JMM will support Ekka as per the directive issued by party president Shibu Soren.
