Two BSNL officials detained for three hours as J’khand CM’s network fails

Dumka: Police picked up two senior BSNL officials in Dumka from their homes at midnight on Monday after chief minister Raghubar Das complained that he was not receiving mobile network at Raj Bhavan in the state sub-capital. However, JMM district president Subhash Singh said the incident exposes the CM’s “fascist approach”. Das was staying at the Raj Bhavan in Dumka, where he is holding a Jan Choupal to hear grievances of the residents.The officers — Dumka telecom district manager P K Singh and assistant junior telecom officer Sanjeev Kumar — were detained at the town police station for three hours as “punishment” for the network failure on the Raj Bhavan campus.Officer in-charge of the town police station, Devbrat Poddar, said, “We brought the two telecom officials to the police station from their homes for the the non-availability of the BSNL’s mobile network at Raj Bhavan, where the chief minister was staying.” The two were allowed to go home around 3am, three hours after they reached the police station, he added.Dumka DC Mukesh Kumar said he had asked BSNL officials to ensure uninterrupted connectivity at Raj Bhavan and Das did not order the detention of the officials.
