Raghubar Das asks Congress to apologize for misleading people on Rafale deal

RANCHI: Chief minister Raghubar Das on Friday sought public apology from Congress party and its national president Rahul Gandhi for misleading the people in the matter of Rafale deal after the apex court gave a clean chit to the Modi government on purchase of 36 rafale jets from France. “The CAG is yet to prepare its report and according to procedure once the report is prepared a copy is submitted to the President of India and Finance Ministry following which the copy goes to Public Accounts Committee (PAC). However, one of the petitioners in the case, former external affairs and finance minister Yashwant Sinha accused the BJP government at center of misleading the supreme court.Talking to TOI Sinha said that the CAG report which has been taken into account by the apex court is nowhere in existence. “I can talk about other issues later someday, today I will only speak about Congress which has been a thief and scammer and has been calling the house guard a thief,” he said.Das accused the congress of compromising with national security by raising the issue of Rafale deal and pointing finger to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ‘wrongdoings’ in the corruption free deal.

The PAC chairman has gone on record saying that he has not received a copy of the CAG report yet,” he said.Expressing disappointment at the judgment Sinha who is one among two other petitioners, Arun Shourie and Prashant Bhushan , said that they are yet to decide about filing a review petition but for the time being they want the public to understand that the top court relied on information submitted by government that is ‘neither on record nor factually correct’.Unwilling to take questions from journalists, Das said that he convened the press conference to issue his statement on the court verdict. “I can talk about other issues later someday, today I will only speak about Congress which has been a thief and scammer and has been calling the house guard a thief,” he said.Das accused the congress of compromising with national security by raising the issue of Rafale deal and pointing finger to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ‘wrongdoings’ in the corruption free deal. “Indian air force had raised the requirement for jet aircrafts in 2001 and the UPA government sat on the decision between 2007 and 2014 just because they could not finalize the commission rate and engage the company owned by their ‘son in law’s friend’,” he alleged.Das said that PM Modi has been striking deals at the level of government without engaging middlemen like Quattrocchi and Michel. “Erstwhile prime minister Manmohan Singh , UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and incumbent Congress president Rahul Gandhi are all responsible for comprising with national security,” he said.
