By: Anuskha PriyaRANCHI: Former President Pranab Kumar Mukherjee on Saturday called upon all academician to focus on the overall development of students and not just academics. Quoting Radha Krishnan and Rabindra Nath Thakur he said teachers should not only focus on academics but also on imparting practical knowledge to students and give attention to innovation. He was here in Ranchi to lay the foundation of DPS Greater Ranchi being constructed in Oremanjhi.Mukerjee laid the foundation stone of Justice B P Singh Campus and Centre for free legal studies and a Women's college to be constructed at the 35 acre plot. He signed the stone placard and launched Numerica Cyber Keys Private Limited, a modern cyber laboratory which would start functioning from the old campus of school. "This school is going to be first in context of digital revolution. The coming generation will glorify Jharkhand ," Mukherjee said.Chairman of DPS Greater Ranchi and DPS Bhagalpur Rajesh Srivastava said, "We are about to open our permanent campus in Oremanjhi within almost two years. Besides the school, we will have a women's college which will be affiliated to Queen's College, London and run courses in diaspora studies, tribal development and public policy." "The school has also started justice Dipak Mishra Centre for legal studies and Justice Shiva Kirti Centre for legal Studies, Cambridge International school of innovation and late Tom Alter Centre of Human Art," they added.DPS greater Ranchi and Bhagalpur have been offering course in legal studies for students above Classes VIII.
