MPs inaugurate railway projects worth Rs 620cr

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato and Chaibasa MP Laxman Gilua on Monday inaugurated eight different projects of the South Eastern Railway (SER) relating to passenger amenities and infrastructure development, worth Rs 620 crore.Constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 614 crore, the third rail line covering a distance of 75km, from Raj Kharswan station to Dangoaposi station on the Howrah-Mumbai route was the major project that was inaugurated at Tatanagar station.P K Sahu, SER chief commercial officer, said, “Commenced in 2015, the purpose of laying track between Raj Kharswan and Dangoaposi was to check the rush of the coach trains and freight trains on the existing track and ensure more trains could run on the new track.”Notably, sanctioned in 2014-15 budget the third line project covering a distance of 132km was to be constructed at a cost of Rs 1312 crore. Close to 50 pairs of passenger trains and several goods trains run through Raj Kharswan and Dangoaposi section every day, presently.“The Chakradharpur division is a commercially important division for the railways as transportation of raw minerals earns handsome revenue to the division hence the third line will help in increasing the frequency of the freight trains and also new long distance coach trains will run on the new track,” Gilua said.The Adityapur railway station that was looking for the extension of the platforms for long, witnessed to the inauguration of the extension of platform number one and two with a cost of Rs 1.27 crore.Likewise, Ramgarh Cant station re-developed on the model of Chinnmastika temple of Rajrappa, with a cost of Rs 29 lakh was also inaugurated online along with inauguration of the platform shelters in Dangoaposi section and Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Kendaposi and Pendrasoli stations that have been built with a cumulative cost of Rs 3.50 crore.“Railway has sanctioned ROB at Govindpur, Chakulia and Ghatshila stations (in East Singhbhm),” Mahato said, after inaugurating the lift and escalator at Tatanagar station, built with the cost of Rs 1.99 crore.
