Party gave my seat to Ajsu-P without consulting me: BJP MP

The duo were showcaused by state party leadership and a formal report was sent to the central party leaders. There has to be some logic behind sacrificing a seat, which has been BJP’s stronghold for over a decade now. He expressed hope that party would review the seat-sharing formula. Voters can easily differentiate between a lotus and banana (referring to BJP & Ajsu-P election symbols). In that case, both Saryu Rai (food and civil supplies minister) and chief minister Raghubar Das aren’t on good terms.

Ranchi: A day after the BJP high command announced giving up of the Giridih parliamentary seat for its alliance partner Ajsu-P as part of the pre-poll alliance in Jharkhand , the ruling party’s sitting MP from Giridih, Ravindra Kumar Pandey , on Saturday charged the party with shunting out a dedicated and loyal party worker “unceremoniously” by not taking him into confidence before taking the decision.A five-time MP from Giridih since 1996, Pandey told TOI over the phone said that he never expected such action for being dedicated and loyal to the party. He expressed hope that party would review the seat-sharing formula. He said, “Agar imandari se kaam karne hai yeh result milega toh fir main kya kah sakta hoon (I don’t have words to say if one gets such results in return for working honestly.”He further said, “The decision is shocking for me. There has to be some logic behind sacrificing a seat, which has been BJP’s stronghold for over a decade now. It should not be just to please someone. Kisi ko fansi dene ke pehle bhi use akhri khwaish puchcha jata hai. Lekhin mujhse kisi ne koi baat tak nai ki. (Even a person awarded with death sentence is given an opportunity to express his last wish. But, no one ever spoke to me on this decision).”Pandey further said the move may backfire on BJP as its mission is to clinch all 14 seats in Jharkhand and fulfil the party’s 400 plus seats’ target in the Lok Sabha this time .“You can form alliance among leaders and parties, but not among voters. Voters can easily differentiate between a lotus and banana (referring to BJP & Ajsu-P election symbols). I hope it doesn’t backfire. Each seat is important to form a strong government,” Pandey said, adding that there is already a loud and clear dissent from among the party’s grassroots workers in his constituency. On a question if he will urge the party to review the decision, the MP said, “I am not going to do that but hope that the party reviews its decision before it’s too late. Neither will I lobby for any Rajya Sabha seat for myself at this juncture.” Pandey also ruled out shifting his allegiance from the party.BJP shot to infamy in November last year after a row between Pandey and the party’s Baghmara MLA Dhullu Mahto , both of whom engaged in an ugly verbal spat and traded sexual harassment charges against each other. The duo were showcaused by state party leadership and a formal report was sent to the central party leaders. BJP insiders claimed that the incident was one of the triggers behind shunting out Pandey and Dhullu could be the next in line of fire ahead of the assembly polls later this year. Pandey, however, refuted the theory. “I don’t think that incident was at play behind this decision. In that case, both Saryu Rai (food and civil supplies minister) and chief minister Raghubar Das aren’t on good terms. Rai had even threatened to resign after levelling a series of allegations against the government. By that logic, they may also have to lose their tickets,” he claimed.
