Man dies in scuffle over sister’s harassment

Palamu SP Indrajeet Mahatha said: “A scuffle broke out between two groups over the issue of stalking of a girl. The deceased has been identified as Abdul Wakil Khan while Danish Khan sustained injuries in the clash. He is undergoing treatment and out of danger.”Mahatha said, “The deceased’s sister was allegedly being stalked by some youngsters from the nearby Khardeeha village on a daily basis while she went for tuition to Haidernagar from her village Kurwa. On Tuesday, her brother and a few others of the family confronted the family of a youth from another community. Both sides got into an argument and Khan was hit on head with a rod. Danish Khan sustained injuries in the scuffle.”Police have arrested one Deepak Ram in this connection and are on look out for a few more youths, police said adding that they have intensified patrolling in both the villages. “Adjoining police stations like Mohammadganj, Hussainabad etc have been asked to keep a vigil in these villages,” Mahatha said.Hussainabad SDPO Vijay Kumar said he was camping at Kurwa. “The situation is under control. Sane elements from both the communities have condemned the killing and helped restore peace. The victim’s family should have approached police earlier to complain about the stalking,” Kumar said.
