Munda to suggest tribal welfare for BJP manifesto

Ranchi: Former chief minister Arjun Munda on Thursday said he will ask BJP to make tribal welfare a focus area in the party’s BJP’s manifesto. Though Munda refused to comment on the date when BJP will release its manifesto sources said it is expected to be out in early April. Union home minister Rajnath Singh is the head of the manifesto committee notified on January 6 for crafting the party’s policy statement which it termed the Sankalp Patra.“As the name suggests, our manifesto (Sankalp Patra) will comprise our resolve and commitment towards development of this country and its people,” Munda said, adding that a nationwide meetings and sabhas (samwad) and Bharat ki Mann Ki Baat programmes have been conducted to crowdsource ideas and suggestions to be incorporated after thorough discussions at the central leadership level.Prodded on what his focus areas will be, particularly concerning Jharkhand, where he served as a three-time chief minister, Munda said, “While one’s independent suggestion doesn’t form any basis for preparing a manifesto, I am working to include the need for a holistic policy for tribal welfare in order to take them along in the development process and not isolate them.
