The team is in a fix as it has been receiving random video clips and photographs from users. The control room of C-vigil application at Ranchi received 17 complaints within three days of its launch.
However, a majority of these complaints are ambiguous as people aren’t aware of the violations which come under model code of conduct.“We have received 17 complains from Ranchi district as of Thursday.
Of these, 11 are completely irrelevant and three didn’t have enough information.
Ranchi: The Election Commission (EC)’s initiative to encourage participation of common citizens in highlighting violation of the model code of conduct MCC ) by candidates and political parties using the new C-Vigil mobile app has generated unique complaints. The app, which promises action within 100 mins of receiving a complaint, is handled by a team of experts at the district level.
Four complains were found to be genuine and necessary action was initiated immediately,” said an employee with the Ranchi DC office’s monitoring cell.“In one of the complaints we found that a lady has posted her picture and has inquired for getting a voter identification card,” said another employee at the control room. Most genuine violations were about posters and banners at government buildings.Ranchi DC Rai Mahimapat Ray said: “It is a part of the process and people will have to be made aware about violations of the model code.”
