Police intensify security in Ranchi, Jamshedpur for Holi

The district administration also made it clear that complaints regarding rash driving, drink driving, alcohol consumption, smearing colours on others against their will and playing music beyond permissible hours on Holi will be strictly dealt with, police said."Peace committee volunteers will play a key role in resolving petty issues. Police personnel will be on stand by across the district," East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amit Kumar said.The district's SSP, Anoop Birthare, said, "Miscreants and anti-social elements will face stern action if they make any bid to spoil the festive spirit of the town."Patrolling has been intensified in some of the sensitive areas, including in Mango, Olidih, MGM, Azadnagar, Jugsalai, Golmuri and Telco police stations areas. The order also prohibits holding demonstration and use of loudspeaker without prior permission.Ranchi deputy commissioner Rai Mahimapat Ray said that the prohibitory order was issued after receiving information that some people were planning to hold mass meetings in the name of Holi, which could lead to model code violation. "Though Holi gatherings are expected to be non-political, the aim behind organising them is often political. No one would be able to organise meetings without taking permission from administration after prohibitory orders are in place," said Ray.
