Daltonganj: The Palamu district administration has begun an innovative drive to promote physically challenged voters exercise their franchise in the constituency during the April 29 Lok Sabha polls To strike chord with the physically-challenged voters, deputy commissioner Shantanu Kumar Agrahari sends out signed post cards, assuring them of all possible help from the administration’s side for hassle-free voting experience. In the five-paragraph post card which begins with ‘Aap Ka Hardik Abhinandan’, the DC lauds the physically-challenged voters for redefining their lives through grit and perseverance despite facing all odds. He added that their votes would help in pushing the district forward on the development front.A district administration official said the invitation cards are being sent from all post offices in the district. “Each postal mail has been sent at a cost of Rs 6 (the value of the postal stamp),” the official said.As many as 5,500 physically challenged voters have enrolled in the Palamu Lok Sabha constituency this time. Deputy development commissioner (DDC) Palamu, Bindu Madhav Prasad Singh, said, “The DC cum district election officer is sending postal cards to the divyang voters as part of a drive to increase the turnout. We will ensure that such voters don’t face any problems as there would be ramps, drinking water, toilets, etc., for them besides providing facilities like tricycles for their commute as and when required.”
