Bay of Bengal Witnesses Low Pressure, Heavy Rains In These States, Get Updates

  • | Thursday | 29th July, 2021

Heavy rainfall is expected from the next few weeks.

Monsoon is yet to shower in several states during the next few weeks due to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal over South Bangladesh and adjoining North Bay of Bengal and West Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted.

It is likely to move westwards across West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar during the next 48 hours, the MeT department said.

“The western end of the Monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through the north of its normal position while its western end passes along the normal position. An off-shore trough runs from south Gujarat coast to north Kerala coast. A cyclonic circulation lies over north Pakistan & adjoining Punjab in the lower levels,” the weather bureau said.

“A line of convergence runs from the above cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and adjoining Punjab to south Gujarat across West Rajasthan at 3.1 km above mean sea level,” it added.

IMD said that extremely heavy rainfall is likely to continue over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh till July 30.
