Three held for killing woman

Daltonganj: The Chainpur police on Saturday took three people accused of murdering a 40-year-old woman branding her as a witch into judicial remand in Daltonganj. The three are Yamuna, Deonarain and Nagender. These three have been booked under Sections 302, 201, 34 of the IPC besides Section 3/4 of the Prevention of the Witchcraft Act. Police have recovered a blood stained stick used in the murder.Officer in-charge of the Chainpur police station Rupesh Kumar Dubey said, "A 40-year-old widow, Lalita, was murdered.She was beaten to death on the intervening night of November 30 and December 1."The deceaseds son Amarjeet had lodged the FIR with the Chainpur police station on Friday. "There were 4 named accused. We arrested three," added Dubey. All the 3 arrested are relatives of the deceased. The body was shifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for post-mortem.
