Farmers need to use knowledge and science in agriculture: Minister

Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperative Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey inspected the ICAR campus located at Gadhkhatanga in Ranchi on Monday. On this occasion, she also inaugurated the biomass gasifier cum biochar production unit. She appreciated the better work being done by the institute in the field of advanced agriculture with the joint effort of knowledge and science. Many new experiments are being done in the field of agriculture by ICAR. Keeping in mind the climate change, the minister was informed about the work being done by the institute towards increasing the selection of crops and its production. Field Day cum Agricultural Input Distribution was organized in the ICAR campus under the Scheduled Tribe Project and National Agricultural Development Scheme. In which agricultural material was distributed among about 300 farmers. On this occasion, Tirkey said that today is the era of moving forward in the field of agriculture by connecting with knowledge and science. ICAR Institute is doing a good job in the direction of training the farmers as well as developing them. The state government has provided 124 acres of land for the development of the institute. Earlier, 700 acres of land has also been provided to BAU Institute. Land is the biggest capital that the tribals have. From time to time, they have given land for the expansion and development of the institutes. The development of the people of the state and the state should be the objective of the institute. The state government is also working to improve the lives of the farmers. Many farmers are doing good work in the production of lac. 5 apex societies of the Cooperative Department are engaged in providing the right market to the farmers produce. The Minister said that whether it is the efforts of the institute or the schemes of the department, farmers will have to make themselves aware for this. Farmers can play an important role in empowering the village panchayat by empowering themselves. Departmental Secretary Abu Bakkar Siddiqui, Advisor Pradeep Hazari, ICAR Director Sujay Rakshit were present on the occasion.
