Education department push for teacher recruitment in Plus II schools

RANCHI: School education and literacy department has started focussing on resolving the manpower crunch in state Plus II schools so as to improve performance of the students. The department has forwarded a requisition for appointing teachers in the 280 newly upgraded Plus II schools to the department of personnel and administrative reforms, which in turn has decided to requisition the Jharkhand state staff selection commission to conduct a competitive examination for the selection of suitable candidates.In total, 280 posts each for Hindi, Sanskrit, English, maths, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, economics, history and accounts have been created for the 280 schools taking the total number of posts of teachers to 3,080. While 50% of the posts will be filled up by direct appointment, SSC would conduct examination for the selection of the remaining posts.Only those high school teachers who have completed three years of teaching would be considered for appointment based on their performance in an examination of 400 marks.Secretary, school education and literacy department, Aradhna Patnaik , said the process is under way for the appointment of 513 teachers for the existing 230 Plus II schools and it would be completed by the end of July. "SSC is doing the final scrutiny for the appointments against 513 posts," she said.The department has cleared the the reservation roster for the appointment of teachers in the newly upgraded schools, the advertisement for which is likely to be issued by the SSC soon.Those willing to participate in the competitive examination conducted by SSC should have a post graduate degree in the respective subjects along with a degree in BEd.The candidates in general category should have scored 50% marks at the PG level whereas those in the scheduled caste and scheduled tribe reserved category, should have scored 45% marks to participate in the examination.The candidates should be 21 years of age by January 1 and must not be more than 45 years for the SC ST category, 43 years for women, 42 years for backward class and 40 years for the general category.
