CM Raghubar Das push for clean Ranchi free of congestion; vows action against lax cops

"We have to work according to a plan to smoothen the traffic flow in the capital city. "If any autorickshaws are found to be stopping at Lalpur, Kantatoli and Kishori Singh Yadav crossroads then the responsible policemen will be penalized," Das warned.Das also made special mention of children and youth driving two-wheelers without helmets. RANCHI- Chief minister Raghubar Das on Thursday called a meeting at the state secretariat in Dhurwa to discuss the deteriorating traffic management and cleanliness in the city.The meeting comes after a late-night inspection by Das of the traffic arrangements in busy thoroughfares of the city which have been witnessing frequent traffic jams owing to encroachments by roadside vendors, illegal parking and illegally-operating e-rickshaws and autorickshaws. "If they fail to adhere to your instructions then take legal action against the defaulters," said Das.While holding the respective officers in-charge of various city police stations and traffic police stations responsible for maintaining smooth flow of traffic, Das said: "Seize the autorickshaw and e-rickshaws of those drivers who park and stop their vehicles in a haphazard and unauthorized manner. Strict implementation of the plan and working with people's cooperation are absolute necessities to ensure that city remains free of traffic jams and is also clean," said Das while speaking to top cops of the city and of the traffic department along with civic authorities on Thursday.While speaking on lack of cleanliness in many parts of the city, especially marketplaces, Das instructed the officials to first reason with shopkeepers who keep their wares outside their shops.

Those police officials under whose jurisdiction we find shops encroaching on roads and autorickshaws parked illegally will be suspended.While those who do their jobs well will be rewarded," Das said.The chief minister instructed the officials to ensure that all the crossroads in the capital are free of traffic jams at all times of the day.He said that handcart owners and vehicles should not be allowed to stop at crossroads."If any autorickshaws are found to be stopping at Lalpur, Kantatoli and Kishori Singh Yadav crossroads then the responsible policemen will be penalized," Das warned.Das also made special mention of children and youth driving two-wheelers without helmets.
