SHILLONG: The body of a prominent RTI activist and youth leader of Meghalaya was found near a bridge in East Jaintia Hills district on Tuesday.Deputy inspector general ( Eastern Range ) AR Mawthoh said a metal wrench was found next to the body of Poipynhun Mawjaw. Preliminary probe suggested that he was hit on the head resulting in his death. "The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained," the DIG added.Majaw, who was the president of Jaintia Youth Front , had moved the high court against against some private companies alleging that these firms had set up cement plants on forest land, violating environmental rules.Majaw's killing has been condemned by fellow RTI activists in the state who have demanded a high-level inquiry into the case and exemplary punishment for the guilty.
