Two columns of fully armed troops in vehicles were deployed during the flag march that passed through Lumdiengjri, Motphran, Punjabi Lane (Them Iew Mawlong) and Rhino Point.Sale of alcohol banned in two districts: The East and West Khasi Hills district administration have prohibited sale of liquor in all warehouses, IMFL shops, bars, hotels and clubs in the respective districts on Wednesday following chief minister Conrad Sangma 's recent statement that those who had unleashed violence in the city in the last few days were found to be drunk and had been instigated by groups with vested interests.Though the prohibition comes into effect on June 6 in East Khasi Hills, all wine stores and bars in the city downed shutters on Tuesday itself due to some confusion over the official notification issued by the deputy commissioner (excise), East Khasi Hills. However, in West Khasi Hills, the ban is for two days - Tuesday and Wednesday.
